What's the difference in protection? Smart-UPS is significantly more expensive, but according to some google searches it offers better protection - how much better and from what is unclear, as people talk about sine waves which is not very useful for a layman. Extra features of Smart-UPS are not very attractive, but if there's enough of a difference in protection I'd go for Smart-UPS.

 

According to APC's site both offer protection from surges, which I'm most worried about - just lost a subwoofer to one. Any info?
