Page_David
I have a Ubuntu 22.04.2 server VM running in unraid, but I lost its username and password. Tutorials on web starts with presssing Esc on GRUB menu. But this is not working because I am accessing the VM with VNC provided in unraid panel. Even if Esc is pressed, Ubuntu just start and not stop at GRUB menu. What should I do please? Quote Link to comment
Solution JonathanM Posted October 12, 2023 Solution Share Posted October 12, 2023 You can try using an external VNC client, point it at the server IP address and port 5900, 5901, or whatever number it happens to be depending on how many other VM's with the VNC video are launched first. Zata
I had the same problem. If you stop the VM then make boot from USB come before booting to the vDisk boot order then it should come up with the standard GRUB menu and thus give you the options you need to reset your credentials. tvmainia
i feel very stupid, but how do I make this happen: "stop the VM then make boot from USB come before booting to the vDisk boot order." Quote Link to comment
tvmainia
ok, I was able to use another vnc client on MacOS, pressed Esc as VM was starting up, was taken to a screen with boot options, but nothing where I can attempt a password change. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment

Use external VNC but not the one embedded in UNRAID control panel. 23 minutes ago, tvmainia said: ok, I was able to use another vnc client on MacOS, pressed Esc as VM was starting up, was taken to a screen with boot options, but nothing where I can attempt a password change. tvmainia
I tried holding SHIFT key inside using RealVNC for MacOS as soon as I can connect to the unraid Ubuntu VM, but it continues booting normally... any ideas? Quote Link to comment
