Data is viewable on individual disks but not in shares or over SMB

I have been searching through a lot of posts to see if I could find my exact issue and do my best to get a solution. About 2 weeks ago I used the unbalance plugin to try and even out some usage on the disks I have. Once that was completed, I realized that the data on some of my shares was gone. If I log in directly to the web UI and just view each disk, the data is there. The shares are empty. I am not sure what happened and how to fix it. I (wrongly) was under the impression that if I moved the data to a different disk, it would still be visible in the share it was in. If there is something I can do so that I don't completely lose my data I would be very grateful to anyone who could point me in a good direction for a fix. Thank you.

Under the same folder/share? Also post the diagnostics.

Have you tried running Tools->New Permissions on the share in question in case something went wrong with permissions that is stopping them being visible over the network.

 

The other thing to try is to run a check filesystem  on all the array drives (by clicking on them in the Main tab to get to that option) to check there is no corruption at that level causing a problem.

The data shows if I go into the web UI and click on specific disks. For instance disk1/4kmovies shows all content as I had it before. If I go to user/4kmovies data is not viewable.

I did try New Permissions but that did not change anything. I have not checked the filesystem yet but will try that in a little while.

Nothing obvious, check filesystems and if that doesn't help post the output of:

ls -la /mnt/user

This is the output of the command. File check on disk 2 gave me a huge output of stuff that I didn't understand but definitely did not look good. I guess I need to figure out how to repair that single disk now? Trying to wrap my head around a lot of this. I do ok with smaller issues but this has been an issue that has really kept me from using unraid for anything the last couple of weeks. I don't want to do something that loses a bunch of data that, for now, is present but is in the wrong place.

As soon as I repaired the file system for disk 2, most of what had disappeared was available again in the share. I guess this shows that I really do not understand how unraid works and what to do to fix the issues I have. There are still some items missing but I think I had backed them up before I did the fs repair on disk 2. I may still have some issues restoring the data that is missing but if I can get that sorted I will mark this problem as solved in the next few days. I appreciate the help and suggestions!
