The syslog already rotated, so we cannot see the beginning of the issue, reboot, wait a while until the log starts being spammed and post new diags.

Would this help?

I'm seeing a lot of nchan memory issues:

Oct 14 05:06:23 s986 nginx: 2023/10/14 05:06:23 [error] 6448#6448: *4596212 nchan: error publishing message (HTTP status code 500), client: unix:, server: , request: "POST /pub/devices?buffer_length=1 HTTP/1.1", host: "localhost"
Oct 14 05:06:23 s986 nginx: 2023/10/14 05:06:23 [error] 6448#6448: MEMSTORE:01: can't create shared message for channel /devices
Oct 14 05:06:24 s986 nginx: 2023/10/14 05:06:24 [crit] 6448#6448: ngx_slab_alloc() failed: no memory
Oct 14 05:06:24 s986 nginx: 2023/10/14 05:06:24 [error] 6448#6448: shpool alloc failed
Oct 14 05:06:24 s986 nginx: 2023/10/14 05:06:24 [error] 6448#6448: nchan: Out of shared memory while allocating message of size 5035. Increase nchan_max_reserved_memory.

What isn't working in the GUI?  This would affect the refreshing of a webpage.

I would suggest booting in safe mode and see if it continues.  If looks to be something with Unraid because the channel is '/devices'.

Thanks for your replies,

I found another post in Dutch non the less, where one replied the netdata docker is causing this over write to syslog (The reply).

I deleted netdata docker and restarted the unraid, so far no red text as in no errors.

I will update here if log refills again,

however how much is normal for log size to be??

Thanks.

  • Community Expert

It will vary but ideally it's around 10 to 20%

I will tonight

I thought after deleting netdata all is good, I will start it in safe mode and report back.

question: can i use it normal in safe mode, or what should I expect or do?

You will have no dockers or plugins installed, so no.  You will be able to use the GUI.

Do you leave the GUI open on any device?

Log shows similar errors even in safe mode with no dockers and no plugins.

as for GUI, usually yes at least one GUI open sometimes more.

Try closing all.

closed them all, so far running in normal boot not safe mode and no errors.

If errors occur I will save diagnostics and reboot in safe mode and monitor. till that error happens then I will upload diagnostics.

thanks for replies and support.

A single error is no reason for concern.
