October 14, 20232 yr Hello, I wanted to replace the current parity 10Tb parity drive by a 12Tb in order to later replace drives in, the array by bigger ones. After replacing the parity drive, I booted the NAS, but disk one in the array appears as disabled. So I put back the original parity drive, but it's now detected as new, and I therefore can't rebuild the array with a brand-new drive Original configuration current status Any help would be appreciated. fractal-diagnostics-20231014-1133.zip
October 14, 20232 yr Community Expert Disk was already disabled at boot so we can't see what happened, but the disk looks healthy, check/replace cables to rule that out, then and since there's no valid parity do a new config (don't assign parity for now) and start the array, if all disks mount normally re-sync parity.
October 14, 20232 yr Author Solution I switched both sata and power cable on the faulty drive but still no luck after a reboot Should i preserve all assignements for the new config ?
October 14, 20232 yr Community Expert It is up to you although it is normally easiest and least error prone to start with preserve all and then make changes from that position. for reference the New Config tool is covered here in the online documentation accessible via the ‘Manual’ link at the bottom of the GUI or the DOCS link at the top of each forum page. The Unraid OS->Manual section in particular covers most features of the current Unraid release.
