I need a 6 x SATA add on card

Featured Replies

I need an add-on SATA card for 6 more drives. I have a PCI Express 2.0 X16 slot on the motherboard.

Does a card exist for this that will work with unraid?

Thx

Look at the Supermicro aoc-saslp-mv8.

Yes it will... it is the card that almost everyone is using.

Can someone explain this issue that a user had?

Cons: Need to manually set the irq or else will not boot.

Other Thoughts: When I first got the card and installed and did not boot got the sinking feeling of an RMA coming. Usually a card just plug and worked but this one did not. Tried moving the card to other slots; switching cables around; increasing the power to the slot. Finally thought why not try irq: but didn't know what was it for the pci-e 4x slot so tried them all. finally it booted into unraid.

The controller bios has an option do disable IRQ13(or is it 14?... eh whatever) disabling it prevents the controller from presenting one of its drives as a bootable drive to the system bios. Some systems need this. Others don't.

As for the other behavior you mentioned, some motherboards restrict the pcix16 slot to video only, if the card present isn't a display adapter, then the board won't boot. You seem to have figured it out though, just leave the controller in the x 4 slot and you should have no trouble.
