Unstable server since upgrade to 6.12.4

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had a really stable 6.11.5 server, but something went wrong since I upgraded the server and I cannot figure it what. Hope you can help.

Since then, I downgraded the server back to 6.11.5 but the issues are still there, I guess some configuration was modified since the upgrade and it´s still there.

Somethings I tried:

When running the server on safe mode, everything works without crashes, and also works fine if it´s in normal mode with no plugins installed, but when I install plugins (I only had some dynamics popular plugins) the server crashes and reboots after a few hours. I tried uninstalling diferent plugins but I doesn´t seem to be a sole culprit (also notice that those plugins worked ok before the upgrade.

The syslog server (attached) doesn´t seem to show any relevant around the crash times (that I´m aware of)

I´d really appreciate if someone could help me out. I took a flash backup before the upgrade, so maybe we can revert the changes, but I´d like some input to avoid making the problem worse.

Last crash was on the 10th of October at 8:47PM. I uninstalled all the plugins (besides Community applications) and it´s been stable since then.

Thanks in advance.

If reverting didn't help it suggests the update wasn't the problem, and since there's nothing relevant logged it could be a hardware issue that coincided with the initial upgrade, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one.

Thanks for the quick answer.

I successfully managed to run the server on safe mode for several days. I also managed to run the server on normal mode with no plugins installed.

The problem happens after I installed some plugins, It seems that several plugins can cause the problem as I installed some individually and crashed the server. There are no new plugins that weren´t there before the upgrade. That´s why I think there may be some configuration changes in the server that happened during the upgrade.

Note that I didn´t restore the backup. I downgraded the server. That´s why I think that restoring the backup could work, but I don´t know if overwriting the contents on the Flash USB is enough.

Thanks

Just downgrading should make everything work as it was, but if you want to try restoring the backup, you just need to restore the complete /config folder.
