September 19, 201114 yr Hi, I've decided to finally try Unraid after hearing about it for years, hopefully I could use one of my existing motherboards. 1 of them is a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3287#sp It has 7 sata ports, 5 on Intel P55 and 2 on Gigabyte sata2 I also have a SiliconImage 3726 Pci card that I would like to use with a 4 bay external enclosure. I see the SI 3726 (port multiplier) on the HW compatibility list but i'm not sure about the ports on the mb. Anybody know if I will be able to use all 7, as I really need at least 10 drives at this point. The other board I have is a MSI P55-CD53 http://us.msi.com/product/mb/P55-CD53.html#?div=Detail This one has 6 ports on Intel P55 and 2 ports on JMicron 363. Hopefully somebody out there has tried either of these boards or is familiar with those chipsets. If not I will report back after I try them out. I need to do a bit more reading on basic installation and setup first Can anybody recommend what would be the best way to go about testing the ports for compatibility? Thanks.
