September 20, 201114 yr Hi, i have a problem and hope you could give me a hint. I have unraid 4.5.6. After adding a new data disk i have the problem that only the new disk and the parity disk spin up alle the day in various timesteps. Sometime every half hour sometimes on one time in a hour. In the syslog i could nothing see why the hdd spin up. Have i any chance to see why the hdd´s spin up in any logfile ? The funky thing is that all hapend only during the day. In the night all is good an nothing spin up. First i thought that my pc spin up the drives, but when i turn off my pc on the day the drives anyway spin up Thx for any hints Greets Eisi

Generally speaking a drive spins up when something tries to access it. Do you have any addon's installed?
September 20, 201114 yr Author Hi, here is the logfile. Hope you could find something. I have installed unmenu and cache_dirs. Cache_dirs i have killed before 2 hours to see if that was the problem. Till now there is now spin up. Greets Eisi syslog-2011-09-20.zip

September 20, 201114 yr Author Hi, could this here a problem ? At my new disk 6 there is File sytem type: (unknown) when i click on the harddisk in mainmenu. on the other disks there is File sytem type: reiserfs @Joe L. i believe you that cache dirs don´t write to harddisk but cache dirs is closed for 4 hours now and there is no spin up for the harddisks. September 20, 201114 yr Could it be something attempting to access Disk 6 (via Dell SingleClickSystems/bad method?)
September 20, 201114 yr Author Hi, what do you mean with Dell Single Click System. Dell as a Hardware distributior ? I´m surprised that the spin up doesnt happend when cache dirs is disabled. Greets Eisi
