joey911 Posted October 27, 2023 Share Posted October 27, 2023 Hi, I did a quick forum search and I see a few posts about i915 issues but I didn't see the exact issue I'm having. FixCommonIssues alerted me that /var/log was filling up. It was syslog and it's packed with this repeating error: Quote Oct 27 12:30:49 UnQNAP kernel: ------------[ cut here ]------------ Oct 27 12:30:49 UnQNAP kernel: i915 0000:00:02.0: drm_WARN_ON(ctrl != state) Oct 27 12:30:49 UnQNAP kernel: WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 24224 at drivers/gpu/drm/i915/display/intel_display_power_well.c:1142 vlv_power_well_enabled+0xc0/0xdd [i915] Oct 27 12:30:49 UnQNAP kernel: Modules linked in: xt_nat xt_tcpudp veth xt_conntrack xt_MASQUERADE nf_conntrack_netlink nfnetlink xfrm_user xfrm_algo iptable_nat nf_nat nf_conntrack nf_defrag_ipv6 nf_defrag_ipv4 xt_addrtype br_netfilter md_mod zfs(PO) zunicode(PO) zzstd(O) zlua(O) zavl(PO) icp(PO) zcommon(PO) znvpair(PO) spl(O) tcp_diag inet_diag qnap_ec(O) ip6table_filter ip6_tables iptable_filter ip_tables x_tables efivarfs af_packet 8021q garp mrp bridge stp llc bonding tls igb intel_rapl_msr intel_rapl_common intel_powerclamp coretemp i915 kvm_intel kvm crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul crc32c_intel ghash_clmulni_intel sha512_ssse3 drm_buddy ttm drm_display_helper aesni_intel drm_kms_helper crypto_simd i2c_i801 cryptd intel_cstate i2c_smbus i2c_algo_bit drm intel_gtt agpgart ahci i2c_core libahci syscopyarea sysfillrect sysimgblt iosf_mbi fb_sys_fops thermal fan video wmi backlight button unix [last unloaded: igb] ....followed by a call trace. The server does have intel graphics but no monitor connected. I do have "Intel GPU TOP" and the intel version of Channel's DVR installed but a quick look at the logs says they aren't directly involved. Diagnostics attached. Relevant file is syslog.1 I'd appreciate any tips you might have for me. unqnap-diagnostics-20231027-1217.zip Quote Link to comment
Solution JorgeB Posted October 28, 2023 Solution Share Posted October 28, 2023 Try uninstalling GPU Top, also I assume you are using the GPU, if not you could also blacklist the driver. Quote Link to comment
joey911 Posted October 28, 2023 Author Share Posted October 28, 2023 @JorgeB Thank you for the reply. Yesterday, prior to your post, uninstalled and then reinstalled GPU Top. Today, I went to confirm the issue was still occurring before uninstalling and it seems that uninstall/reinstall of GPU Top, along with a reboot, has stopped the errors. I use hardware transcoding and hardware deinterlacer with Channels and that app suggested to install GTOP. I'm going to install the GPU statistics plugin to see how much the GPU is being used because GTOP has consistently said it is not being used. Quote Link to comment
