Toshiba N300 Drives

Curious what everyone's expereince with the N300 is like?

I've got a total of 4, all within 30 days old. One already RMA'ed due to Seek_Error_Rate passing 50 Threshold, and another currently running pretty close to the threshold.

Are they just pants and should I avoid the N300's in future?

I’ve got 2 of them, and 2 x300.  No issues. All have over 25k hours now. It’s a crapshoot - doesn’t matter the brand.

2nd Failure just occured *insert crying gif here*

Do you think the fact I'm using my NAS as a Media Server has anything to do with it? For clarity, both disk failures have been Disk 1.

No. I think it’s likely you got 2 bad drives. I’d look at the date code info on all 4 to see if they are all from a single batch/lot.

If they came from the same vendor, or even worse all in the same shipping box, the delivery company probably played a game of warehouse rugby with it.

I tried one which immediately failed. The RMA replacement is running fine since 4 years. I have not re-considered them and stick to WD reds instead.
