Syncthing - Moving sync folders out of appdata folder

Featured Replies

I have set up Syncthing docker in Unraid as a backup/cloud for my Andriod phone pictures.

Everything goes well but I find out the sync folder is created in appdata.

/mnt/user/appdata/syncthing/Pixel7_Camera/Camera

Is it possible to point the sync folder to another share, outside of appdata?  It is because appdata is running on cache drive and it is not parity protected and I find it difficult to move the files inside appdata folder.

Installing file manager solved my problem to move files around.  Thanks.

I am having the same issue. How did you point it to sync to the correct location instead of the appdata folder?

If anybody else wonders how to do this. Syncthing has guidance in their FAQ: https://docs.syncthing.net/users/faq.html#how-do-i-rename-move-a-synced-folder

Important: Be very careful, have backups ready, wait for all syncing to complete on all devices, etc.

Specifically the following worked for me:

The easy way to rename or move a synced folder on the local system is to remove the folder in the Syncthing UI, move it on disk, then re-add it using the new path.
