Parity Drive is disabled

Featured Replies

Hello, I recently swapped my parity drive for a new one since the old was getting disabled and showed 2048 errors. However now that Im doing my first sync with my new drive I am getting the exact same thing but with 1024 errors. No other drive seems to be showing an error so I am confused on whats going on and how to remedy the issue. Any help would be appreciated!

The parity drive has been disabled which means a write to it failed so Unraid has stopped using it and is now merely performing a read check on the other drives so probably no reason to continue.

The parity drive is showing a lot of reallocated sectors (832) so I suspect it may be a genuine problem with the drive and it will need replacing rather than our normal first suspect of being the power or sata cabling to the drive.   You could try running an extended SMART test on the drive to see if that passes as if it does not the drive definitely needs replacing.

Thank you for the help. Indeed it was just a case of bad luck and the new drive had errors. Swapped it with a replacement and it worked like a charm.
