DGE-528T not working after onboard nic died

in the 5 beta 12a thread I already mentioned that the Realtec 8111e chip seems to have died, so I inserted today a DGE-528T NIC, however when I disabled my onboard NIC and ran ethtool eth0 it does not find any interface, I can see that the connection to the switch works. So I don't know what to do anymore. I have tested the Dlink NIC with a bootable Windows 7 USB stick and it works without issues, whereas the onboard nic really seems to malfunction.
