Partition format: Unknown x4

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I was looking at upgrading to v5 beta and was going through various pages in the Unraid main screen when I saw 4 of my disks show as "Partition: Unknown" - I guess this is going to cause an issue if i try to upgrade so wanted to see what if there was something I could do beforehand...?

syslog attached, are there any other logs i need to run to id the issue?

thanks!

so i did more searching on the forum and found this post (http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12224.0) about beta 5.0b6a which mentions running disk_mbr_debug (attached) but looks like gibberish to me!

and then following the link to http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=11540.msg109780#msg109780

seems to indicate i need to run either

*  mkmbr /dev/sdc 63 0x83  => normal MBR, partition 1 starts in sector 63

or

*  mkmbr /dev/sdc 64 0x83  => normal MBR, partition 1 starts in sector 64

??

Do you know how the MBR was on those disks? Were they 1. MBR: unaligned or 2. MBR: 4K-aligned? If 1 then they start at 63; if 2 then 64. I don't know what happens if you get it wrong. If it does not matter then pick 64.
