November 9, 20232 yr I'm a bit confused on what happened to my parity drive during a non-correcting parity-check. My parity drive has 513 errors on it from doing a parity-check which finished with 0 errors. I see an i/o error in the logs, but not sure what happened. I haven't touched the hardware inside my server for months, so none of the cables, drives, memory sticks were touched. I also don't see any errors in S.M.A.R.T. attributes, but there are four ATA Errors in the S.M.A.R.T error log. I did a short S.M.A.R.T. test and it passed. Anyone have a clue what happened here? Thanks for looking. myers19-diagnostics-20231109-1419.zip myers19-smart-20231109-1416.zip
November 10, 20232 yr Community Expert It's logged as a disk problem, but it can be an intermittent issue, run an extended SMART test.

November 11, 20232 yr Author @JorgeB The extended smart test just finished with zero errors. Attached are the logs for your review. I have not restarted the server yet or changed anything in unraid. Thanks again for looking at this. myers19-diagnostics-20231111-1843.zip myers19-smart-20231110-2212.zip
November 12, 20232 yr Community Expert Solution Since the test passed disk is OK for now, reboot to clear the errors and keep monitoring, swapping cables/slot would also be a good idea to rule that out if it happens again to the same disk.

I re-seated all cables and hba card. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Drive errors cleared after restarting. No more issues detected so far. I'll keep an eye on the drive and will replace it under warranty if it happens again. Thanks for the help.
