Unraid in VMWare Workstation - Device eth0 does not exist

Featured Replies

Yes, yes, yes...I know! This is *very* left of centre and probably not at all how it's intended to be used. BUT it's a project I'm playing around with and I'd really like to see if I can get it working.

*Device eth0 does not exist* - VMWare Workstation Pro 17
I'm trying to get Unraid working as a VM on my Windows 11 machine. It's booting successfully from my USB stick but no matter what I do, it won't get an IP address.
I've tried:

  • Changing from NAT to Bridged (onboard NIC is 2.5gbe)
  • Tried a USB-C 1gbe adapter
  • Tried an Intel 1gbe PCIE NIC
  • I disabled all other NICs aside from the Intel one

Sooo.......?

What have you set the network card to emulate at the VMWare level?  Sounds as if it is not one for which Unraid includes drivers.

You should post your system's diagnostics zip file in your next post in this thread to get more informed feedback.  It is always a good idea to post this if your question might involve us seeing how you have things set up or to look at recent logs.
