I have seen many issues like this with the intel cards, thats why I have dropped them completely here.

But in general, it is not an issue with the card itself but with the combination of card and cable. These cards seem to "wear out" (or what you like to call it) over the time. First they work for some weeks or even months, then now and then some link losses happen. Not really alarming. But later on they happen more and more often and kill your running connections.

Maybe either you do not have proper cables or the length is too long. They SAY 30m would be ok, I already ran into problems with 20m (as I said: depends on the cable).

At the end I threw out everything, got me used mellanox cards and used fiber for all connections. Since then (2yrs now) NO problem anymore!!!

Good Luck for your search...

Thanks. This is using a Dell card but yes the cable is about 20m length.

Sadly I think upgrading everything to Mellanox and fibre is out of my budget :(

CAT8 cables are available.  You might want to try one of those.  (Be careful about what brand you pay.  You need quality here and that is never cheap!)

EDIT:  You might want to swap switch ports if that is an option...

I bought high quality CAT-6 thinking that would be enough. Sadly maybe not. I need flat cables to run under carpet.

It's a direct connection so no switch involved at all.

There is this now available but comparing it to some the quality round stuff, it looks like they have cut a few corners.  I would imagine it would work fine for the shorter runs but define "shorter"!
