November 15, 20232 yr Hello everyone. I am very new to unraid and I have made a catastrophic error while trying to access my server. A friend helped me by doing the initial setup last year. It booted to a VM and all the drives had green lights, things were looking good. However, I mothballed the server for a year and could not figure out how to log back in. I made a rash decision and formatted the original boot USB without making any backups. Now when I start the server it runs through a bunch of commands, then prompts for a Tower login. I tell it "root" and I get "root@Tower:~#". No idea where to go from there. When I boot in GUI mode I just get a blank black screen with a blinking cursor. Any help at all would be humbly appreciated, and thank you.

That means Unraid is booting properly and it is giving you the command line prompt when you log in. Generally, you access the server GUI via a browser on another computer on the local network. Just open a browser and enter the IP address of the Unraid server or http://Tower. IP address should always work. If you do not know the server IP address, type' ifconfig' (no quotes) at the "root@Tower:~#" command line prompt. You will need to login to the GUI with the root user. If you currently have no password for the root user you should set one.
