Cannot access some folders on Windows 11 in SMB Share

Featured Replies

For a reason I cannot manage to pinpoint I am not allowed to access the top three folders in my SMB share, but the bottom one is just fine.

Error.

Folders (I do not have access to the ones with a briefcase)

I have tripple checked that the (non root) user that I login with has Read/Write access to the share.

Also I have checked the file permissions, which are set to the following:

drwxrwxrwx 2 john users 20480 Nov 13 07:56 folderA
drwxrwxrwx 43 john users 86016 Nov 14 14:40 folderB
drwxrwxrwx 29 john users 4096 Nov 14 13:18 folderC
drwxrwxrwx 2 john users 52 Nov 2 21:54 folderD

(For privacy reasons I have renamed my username and folders, but the username here is the same as the user I have created in the Unraid GUI)

So, I cannot access folder A, B and C, but I can access folder D. Can anyone deduce what is going wrong here? Or perhaps anyone has a tip on how to figure out what is configured differently between these folders.

If you need more info, please let me know and I will provide!

Added a screenshot of the error

Try checking the filesystem on the disk with those shares.

I am fairly new to configuring my own server.

Could you elaborate on how I would go about doing this; what on the filesystem would I be checking?

Click on the    SHARES    tab on the GUI.   Then click on the blue share name of the share you can access.   Do a screen capture of this portion of the that screen as shown below. (I have blacked out the sensitive information.)

Now for do the same for one of the shares that you can't access.

Thanks for responding, this is the screenshot, also with the sensitive data blocked in red (with red text to indicate what used to be there)

The thing is though; I can access the share and I have access to one of the four folders in the share, so as far as I understand it, it cannot be my credentials or the Read/Write setting here.

You are likely to get better informed feedback if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread after trying to access one of those problem folders to see if we can spot something.

That screenshot was from the share you can access?   Can your brother access the other shares or is he also denied access to those shares?

And what exactly does that 'briefcase' indicate?  (I am assuming that is a screenshot of the file manager on the client computer.)
