Spindown Problem Since Moving from 4.7 to 5b12 | SYSLOG attached

Featured Replies

I am using 3 x AOC-SASLP-MV8 with 22 drives (1 parity, 20 array disks, 1 cache).  I have set the spindown delay from 2 hours to 1 hour (changing both the default and even for each disk since I was not sure if that would help).  Only one of the 20 array drives will spindown, the log shows only one spindown command...  I am using Cache_Dirs.  Never had this problem with 4.7 which would spin down drives when the delay was set to 2 hours.  Can someone see anything in the log that provides a hint on what's happening?

I have a bunch of plug-ins and third-party apps, but even with all of them disabled the drives still stay spinned up.  In fact a manual spindown works, but all the drives (except one which is empty) spin up almost immediately...

Thanks.

Those controllers have been problematic with the latest betas. You can try to adjust the spin down delay of each drive individually and then restarting.

Yeah I did that.  I adjusted each disk individually and to no avail.  I don't understand why I don't even see the attempt to spin down the drives in the log.  Something must be accessing the drives regularly, I can't figure out what.  Is there a way to log all disk access requests for let's say a 2 hour period?  That way I can see what may be keeping the spin down time from resetting.  The fact that one drive (that has zilch on it) stayed spinned down indicates to me that spin down works, just that something is keeping the drives from doing so.
