November 18, 20232 yr Hello, Just setup my first diy NAS. Going through the drive/parity setup and I'm getting 15-20MB/sec speed. Estimated time of 4 days to sync my parity. I'm new to all this so hoping I can get some community help. See my diagnostic attached. zeppilab-diagnostics-20231118-0126.zip Edited November 18, 20232 yr by Zeppi
November 18, 20232 yr Community Expert There appears to be something reading from the array, post new diags to see different stats.
November 18, 20232 yr Author Here's a diagnostic I just pulled. I did hear activity from the HDD's as soon as I powered the system and even before booting into unRaid to try and start the array again. zeppilab-diagnostics-20231118-0806.zip
November 19, 20232 yr Community Expert Now only parity is writing, very slowly, possible the other disks are just waiting, do you have a different parity disk you could use? You can also try running the diskspeed docker.
November 19, 20232 yr Author I ran 2 drives without a parity just so I can get some dockers in and run diskspeed or other diagnostic apps. Now I discovered another problem lol. Everytime I reboot the server I get an unsupported drive error on the 2 spinning disks but not my nvme. Gonna try skipping my HBA and plug sata directly into motherboard to see if my HBA is the problem. Can I run unraid strictly off the motherboard or is an HBA a must? I know if I want more drives I'll have to go the HBA route; but just to get me up and running with my 3 disks is motherboard an option?

November 19, 20232 yr Author Solution Looks like HBA was toast. Syncing parity at 230MB/sec now... Tremendous
