USB Died - Have Data Backup, But Not Recent USB Backup - Help Verify Next Steps Please!

Howdy, been a while, a testament to how well Unraid runs, really...

I finally had a USB die.  In fact, this USB is a 1GB Sandisk Cruzer pretty much from when I first deployed Unraid.  It dates back to at least 2008.  It's seen some s%*t.  My array started misbehaving, plugins/dockers would not update, so i did a reboot and discovered the fault seems to have been the USB dying.  Probably should have replaced that sucker a while ago...

Unfortunately, I don't have a recent USB backup.  :(  I thought my Crashplan setup was capturing the flash drive but that does not appear to be the case.  The most recent USB backup I do have is from 2021 but I know at least a couple of drives have changed and likely a few share, docker and general config settings. I am trying to access the failed USB, but at this stage it will not come up in Windows after trying a few things, so I am not confident.  That said, my shares are not that complicated and my dockers are ultimately ephemeral and can be re-configured without too much trouble.

I do know my drive order with certainty, so no issues there.  As long as I can get the array up, I can re-configure pretty much everything else.    I just want to validate what my next steps should be.

1 - Re-install current Unraid to new flash drive

2 - Boot, enter new password to access GUI, assign drives

3 - Start array

4 - Re-configure shares, plugins, docker and other settings

5 - Follow procedure to re-apply license

Does that seem corrent?  Anything I am missing?  When I start the array, should I check the 'Parity is already valid'?  I will run a fresh parity check anyway, once I confirm the array is up and data is all present and correct, but should I first start the array with that setting checked, then restart with it unchecked after confirming everything looks good?

Also, with license registration, the FAQ says '...install Unraid on the new flash device, boot it up on your server, and then install the old registration key on the new flash (from the Tools > Registration page). From there you can request and then install a replacement key."  However, I see nothing in the GUI to install the old registration key (ie I guess the pro1.key file from my 2021 backup?).  Am I understanding that right?  I feel like I may need to contact support since the registration/license process has probably changed...

Thanks in advance!

That looks good.   Can you get anything off the old flash drive?  If so the contents of the ‘config’ folder are what you want.   That would allow you to avoid reconfiguring things as you could then copy its contents to the new flash drive.

Regarding changing the licence if you have your original licence file put it in the ‘config’ folder on the new flash drive and when Unraid boots it should take you through the process for transferring the licence to the new drive.  If you have any problems with this then you will need to contact support.

It is always a good idea to have a backup of your flash drive.   You can always make one manually either by copying the contents on a PC/Mac or (probably more convenient) clicking on the Boot drive on the Main tab and selecting the backup option.    In terms of automated backups then you can periodically make one locally on the server using the appdata backup plugin, or on the cloud by installing the Unraid connect plugin (used to be called MyServers).

Ah, key replacement does not apper to be working.  The array recognises the old key file and initiates the replacement process.  Hit hitting Replace Key on the registration page opens a pop-up that (after signing in) then says to complete the process by hitting the Finish Key Replacment button in the GUI, but that just opens the same pop-up windows again.

I have emailed support with details, so I am sure they will sort me out.
