Resserene
I added a parity drive to my setup for the first time a couple of days ago. Even after completing the initial process, the drive is not spinning down whether I set it to spin down in 15 mins or 1 hour. Not even when I click the green button next to it in the "Main" menu. I've also ensured that there were no writes to any drives in the last 6 hours. I also have an SSD pool where new writes should go anyway. What am I doing wrong? rain-diagnostics-20231118-1916.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Set the parity spin down timer to 15 minutes, reboot, start but don't use the array more and if parity remain up after 20 minutes post new diags. Quote Link to comment
Resserene
I did as you said and found the drive had spun down after 20 mins. I took diagnostics at that point. But only sometime later I found it spinning again without any new writes to it. I took diagnostics here as well. Attaching both. rain-diagnostics-20231120-1447.zip rain-diagnostics-20231120-1504.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
There's no read SMART /dev/sdd logged, meaning, Unraid didn't event detect the disk was spinning up, also note that USB disks are not recommended for the array or pools and depending on the bridge used spin down might not always work correctly with them. Resserene
Is there any way to correct this? USB disks are all I have right now. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You can try with a different one if possible, some work better than others. Quote Link to comment
