Hi there.

 

My USB died, so I made a replacement USB.  I need to request a replacement key, but unRAID gives me the "Deprecation Notice" that I need to use the Connect plugin.

 

However, when I go to Plugins, Connect isn't there.  And neither is My Servers.  And its no mystery why - I don't believe I ever installed them.

 

The dropdown menu from the top right of the webgui gives me the option to "Enhance you experience with My Servers." But when I click "Install plugin" it provides error messages as seen below and doesn't complete the task:

So I went to APPS and tried to download "Unraid Connect." But it, too, provides errors:

When I click on "Replace Key" in the top right webgui dropdown menu, it either gives me the Deprecation Notice again or provides an unclickable orange backdrop with "UNRAID" plastered on it.

 

In a recent thread from November 14 on the "Connect Plugin Support" channel, an UNRAID Administrator suggested opening a terminal and downloading the file manually, using the following command line instructions:

 

mkdir -p /boot/config/plugins/dynamix.my.servers

wget -O /boot/config/plugins/dynamix.my.servers/unraid-api.tgz https://unraid-dl.sfo2.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/unraid-api/unraid-api-3.2.3.tgz

 

But when I do this, I get another error:

I'm out of ideas.  What can I do to get this to work?

 

I'm not posting this on the Unraid Connect Forums as I haven't linked my Unraid account to my login.  Which I would do if I could get my server online again.

@ljm42, in the meantime you can contact support with the new flash drive GUID so that they can replace the key for you.

I'm staring at my monitor like an idiot - Of course I can, can't i?!  I'll do that now as well.

 

But I still would like an answer for this in case someone else has an issue.

UPDATE: Problem Solved (but not the underlying issue).

 

Primer on my issue: My USB Key failed and I needed to create a new one and request a replacement key.  But I couldn't get a stable version of the most recent unraid build to start on the server, so I replaced the USB key with an earlier version of UnRaid from June 2023 (IIRC).

 

Using this USB Key rebuild and an older UnRaid build, I was able to get the server started.  But I could not download/install UnRaid Connect to request a replacement key and the other workarounds I found on the forums weren't working, either.

 

Cut to today, the UnrRaid GUI gaveme  the option of updating to the most recent software build.  Once that was installed, I was able to install Connect.  And from there, request an updated replacement key, which worked immediately and flawlessly.

 

The question remains why my USB Key build using the latest software wouldn't work.  It would load to the "Starting up UnRaid automatically in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1," before it would repeat the countdown from 5 again, continuously.  That's an issue I didn't solve.

 

The question also remains why you can't download/install Connect on an older version of the software.

 

Either way, I hope this helps someone out there with the same or similar issues.
