Two drives, how to verify which one was booted from?

Featured Replies

I'm experimenting with booting from an SSD with the license on the USB thumbdrive, and I have my motherboard set to boot from the SSD. On the unraid install on the SSD I have a root password set, but when I boot my system with the thumbdrive in, there is no root password. Remove the thumbdrive and boot, and it asks for a password..

Any ideas? It almost feels like the bootloader on the SSD loads the thumbdrive because it's label is UNRAID whereas the SSD's label is FLASH.

I know you are trying to get this working but... why?

Get a large flash drive and be done with it if you are concerned about space.

Answered my own question by renaming bzroot and bzimage on the thumbdrive and it still booted. Problem is, my shares show up correctly, but the users don't, and neither does the root password. Interesting...
