September 28, 201114 yr I'm experimenting with booting from an SSD with the license on the USB thumbdrive, and I have my motherboard set to boot from the SSD. On the unraid install on the SSD I have a root password set, but when I boot my system with the thumbdrive in, there is no root password. Remove the thumbdrive and boot, and it asks for a password.. Any ideas? It almost feels like the bootloader on the SSD loads the thumbdrive because it's label is UNRAID whereas the SSD's label is FLASH.

Get a large flash drive and be done with it if you are concerned about space.
