November 28, 20232 yr So i setup my unraid years ago copying spaceinvader (love that guy) BUT. I think it's come to the point where I may need to setup all of my shares and disks differently and all doing this years later. I want to have a single share for data then have movies/downloads/tvshows etc under that one share spread across the my disks in the array. Have a system like what trash-guides setup. https://trash-guides.info/Hardlinks/How-to-setup-for/Unraid/ Currently, I have separate shares for everything atm on 3 separate drives. 4K - SD - HD - TV - Music - Documents - Photos etc. Whats the best plan of attack to centralized it all and have it shared across the array? Am I shit out of luck? NO parity is present at the moment I wanted to see what I can do here before I put a 20TB parity drive in the system. So my question is. How do I go about this? Would I create a new share called 'data' add my sub folders in there. Then what? Edited November 29, 20232 yr by z0ki
November 29, 20232 yr Create your new "data" share with your sub folder structure according to trash guides then using rsync to copy or move your data from your current shares to the new "data" share in their respected folders. I followed that guide a while back too. Here is my current folder structure. Quote data .backups .torrents complete anime movies-hd movies-uhd tv incomplete pre-converted anime movies-hd movies-uhd tv .transcode emby fileflows .usenet complete anime movies-hd movies-uhd tv incomplete pre-converted anime movies-hd movies-uhd tv media anime kids movies-hd movies-uhd tv recordings Hopefully it won't seem too complicated but I can explain why I have mines set up like that if you like.
