December 2, 20232 yr Hi! A couple of year ago a trialed unraid 6.6.6, made a couple of configs, dockers and VMs in a hardware I had laying around and then I just stop using it. But a few days ago I bought a license and I want to start using unraid again in a newer hardware I have. Should I use the same drive, connect it to the new hardware, update it and apply the license or should I just format the pen and just reinstall the newer version and re config everything in the new hardware?

December 2, 20232 yr Author During the trial I used one data drive and one cache drive and at least in the data drive there's information I want to keep. Can't I just connect the old drive to the new machine after put unraid working? Or is there a specific procedure I should do?

Make sure you don't assign any disk with data on it to any parity slot. Also, you must always have another copy of any important and irreplaceable data. Parity is not a substitute for backup.
