December 5, 20232 yr I have read a lot of posts on how PCIe SATA cards aren't really reliable or recommended. Then, I came across this: PCIE to Mini SFF-8087 Expansion Card I know it's not a HBA, and have to assume it must be a SATA card hijacking the 8087 port -- but I can't stop wondering if it's a legitimate way to add in 4 additional drives. Does anyone have experience with this type of card? Are my suspicions of "sata in a 8087 wrapper" correct?
December 5, 20232 yr I don't see the chip it uses mentioned anywhere, so difficult to say if it's a good or bad option for Unraid.

Looks like I was wrong and misunderstood. reading through that thread, looks like it’s multiplier chips that are the issue. thanks for pointing that out.
