December 6, 20232 yr I tried to replace one 4tb disk of the array with an 8tb one just to get more space, I followed the steps in the guide, when the rebuild of the new drive started it failed right away, the drive is defective an has a ton of errors. So I tried to put back the old 4tb one that is in good condition but now I get the error that is too small and won't let me put it back in the array. Is there a way to do this? If not, can I run the array with one drive missing while I get a replacement of the defective 8tb drive? Thanks for your help

December 6, 20232 yr Community Expert Why do you think the new larger disk is defective? Can you plug it back in and post new diagnostics?
December 6, 20232 yr Author Yes, completely broken, a ton of bad sectors and write errors, already sent the drive back for replacement.
