Fujitsu s740 won't boot from unRaid partition

Featured Replies

Hi all,

my s740 won't boot from my usb sticks unraid partition. BIOS is set to default, partition shows up in BIOS and boot selection menu.

Also, tested this stick on a windows PC, bootet without a problem.

Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting? I have almost zero experience.

Thanks

Are you trying to boot in UEFI or legacy mode?

In UEFI mode.

All other boot options disabled.

Edit/ can't even find the bios option to switch btw legacy and UEFI

Have you made sure the EFI folder does not have a trailing ~ character?    It must not be there to boot in UEFI mode.

Does it even start the boot sequence (i.e. the blue Unraid menu), or fail later in the boot sequence.   The fact you booted the stick on another machine does at least confirm the flash drive is potentially bootable.

EFI Folder is named 'EFI-'.

Boot sequence doesn't start. After selecting the stick in the boot menu, screen goes black for a couple of seconds, then the boot selection pops up again.

Any other ideas? Otherwise I'm just getting different hardware.

The trailing ~ needs to be removed if you want to be able to boot in UEFI mode.

Yep that worked. Thanks a lot.

Sorry, not a native speaker. Thought trailing character meant exactly this symbol '~'.

Think it worked on my windows PC as that one is 12 years old and probably set to legacy, not UEFI.
