Both parity disks disabled and thousands of disk errors

Featured Replies

Good evening every one

Unraid rookie here.

Just ordered all my components for a fresh build and installed Unraid for the very first time.

Parity check keeps failing. It always ends up settings both parity disks to disabled. Up until there the error counters keep going up and up, on pretty much all disks.

A already got the disk running again by stopping the array, unassigned the disk, starting, stopping and assigning again. But that was only a temporary fix. I also reset the counters, so what you're seeing here, is what happened while parity check was running until it stopped at ~5%.

I checked and attached the diagnostics, but am lost on what's happening.

Looks like a controller issue:

Dec 11 08:04:39 LKSSRV01 kernel: aacraid: Host bus reset request. SCSI hang ?

Do you have a different controller you can test with? Ideally one of the recommended LSI HBAs.

I was wonder whether that could be issue, but I didn't dare to even bring in that idea, in fear that might be the case.

It's a used "Adaptec ASR-71605" and was recommend here on the forum somewhere if I'm not mistaken. I don't have another controller, but could try to move some disk to the 4 onboard SATA ports.

Combining the adapter and error in a search on this forum, leads to similar issues, nice! :')

I'll give that a try and come back to you.
