Can't resolve NTP time - [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

Ok guys I know I am missing something basic here,

I set my time zone to -5 eastern time and the time displayed is 6:55 am with todays date. It is currently 11:03 am here.

When I check my syslog it says it can't resolve pool.ntp.org. After doing some searching I changed the setting to us.pool.ntp.org as found in a post by JoeL, still can't resolve. Is there a port I need to open up in the router or something for this to be able to connect?

Found an old post by Joe L.

Since I am running a static IP I had to add

nameserver 192.168.1.1

To my /ect/resolv.conf  file, it now works like a charm.

Thanks Joe L.

Ok had to reopen this.

This setting is not surviving reboots, any restart of the server clears the file.

Any idea how I can prevent this?

Set the name server using the webGUI.

LOL amazing, I research, go and edit config files for a change instead of looking for a gui to do it in...and the answer is....

Use the GUI.  ;D

Thanks dgaschk, it is working again.
