December 15, 20232 yr Good morning, My Unraid 6.12.6 system has been dealing with the /var/log getting filled due to the following repeating nginx errors: nginx: 2023/12/09 18:29:33 [crit] 7289#7289: ngx_slab_alloc() failed: no memory nginx: 2023/12/09 18:29:33 [error] 7289#7289: shpool alloc failed nginx: 2023/12/09 18:29:33 [error] 7289#7289: nchan: Out of shared memory while allocating message of size 15595. Increase nchan_max_reserved_memory. nginx: 2023/12/09 18:29:33 [error] 7289#7289: *213325 nchan: error publishing message (HTTP status code 500), client: unix:, server: , request: "POST /pub/devices?buffer_length=1 HTTP/1.1", host: "localhost" nginx: 2023/12/09 18:29:33 [error] 7289#7289: MEMSTORE:00: can't create shared message for channel /devices I found some other posts pertaining to the same issue; however, the resolutions do not seem to help. This issue has been happening for quite a while and the log seems to fill faster than ever after restarting. As of this instance, the first message seems to appear within 30 minutes of a restart. I have attached my diagnostics file in hopes someone can point me to the root cause and pertains provide a solution. Thank you, Erik nexus-diagnostics-20231215-1127.zip
December 15, 20232 yr Community Expert Try booting in safe mode and/or closing any browser windows open to the GUI, only open when you need to use it then close again.
January 3, 20242 yr Author Solution Thank you for the feedback. I have stopped leaving browser tabs open for the system and only open as needed. This seems to have slowed the growth of the log file.
July 16, 20241 yr Sorry to resurrect a little, but this is the newest topic I could find on the subject. Has anything been done or is there future progress expected on fixing this? I just had my logs begin to fill up as well. Closing browser tabs didn't fix it; I had to restart nginx. It's not that unreasonable to leave a browser tab open for long periods of time monitoring a server. But it is pretty undesirable that a server could end up locked up from a browser tab.
