December 16, 20232 yr Running UnRaid 6.12.6 with 6 drives and no parity disk - all 4TB WD Red. Drive 2 has started to fail and I want to replace it with a new 6TB WD Red drive. I stopped array, put drive 2 into "no device" powered down unplugged 4TB drive Plugged in 6 TB drive Powered back on Go to drive 2 and selected 6TB drive. At this point I am stuck - as there is no option to accept this change and start the array. The Array devices list shows 8 disks - but the MB can only handle 6 - so there are NOT 2 unassigned disks. Nor can I change the slots drop down to 6 (the lowest it goes is Any thoughts? Thank you in advance. Edited December 16, 20232 yr by gibeaug added additional screen clip
December 16, 20232 yr Community Expert Since you have no parity you can't rebuild to a new disk. If you need to change disk assignments, Tools - New Config. You might be able to copy files from the failing disk as an Unassigned Device.
December 17, 20232 yr Author Thank you. I thought that might be the case - but wanted to double check. This is a backup NAS for my primary NAS - so I will not lose anything - rsync will do its nightly run and it will just take awhile to replace any missing files.
