December 18, 20232 yr I have an array with 12 drives, mostly 2TB, some 3 and 4TB. I have some 4TB drives to swap out old 2TB ones (parity drives are already 4TB). The new drives only show up on one of the SAS connectors, if I swap an old 2TB connector to the new 4TB, it does not show up in Unraid / boot options / LSI BIOS (it does spin up). I've tried the new drives on the working port, (they are formatted 512 byte sector size already) and on this port they show up in both Unraid and the LSI BIOS. I've tried pretty much every connector and different physical configuration with no success and have not been able to find any similar issues from my research. Drives are hooked up with dual LSI 8i cards flashed to IT in x8 slots, PD to drives is with custom SATA power cables (used to have PD issues). Any help or tips would be much appreciated, if there is any other info / specs that could be useful, let me know. vostok-server-diagnostics-20231217-1707.zip
December 18, 20232 yr Author Same behavior on both controllers. The one port that works is on the controller that shows up in the LSI BIOS, the other controller / drives on second controller do not show up at all in the LSI BIOS, but they all connect like normal still. The only thing I have been able to come up with so far is that there is something wrong with one or both of the controllers / firmware, thinking of getting an LSI 16i card to see if that fixes the issue.
