Constant Parity Check even on clean reboot (or maybe it wasn't clean?)

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm in need of your help with figuring out why my Unraid always performs a Parity check whenever I do a reboot or a clean shutdown. I read that it's possible the default shutdown timer is too small of a window for my normal shutdown process, so I increased it to I believe 7 minutes or so, in case it ever does take that long.

However today, I was having issues where I was unable to stop my array manually. Despite looking at various posts for a solution, I remained unable to stop my array, and Syslog shows no activity whenever I click on "Stop". So my last resort was just to reboot. Running reboot, the log stopped at "br0 removing interface" and that's it. I waited for a few minutes and nothing happened. I thought the system hung while trying to reboot but in a minute or so, the login screen popped back up on my browser. Overall I think the reboot took less than 3-4 minutes max. However I noticed that Parity Check initiated again despite what I thought was a proper reboot.

Attached is the diagnostic after the reboot. Please let me know if you see anything that is potentially causing the dirty reboots/shutdowns. It's really bugging me that I can't never seem to get the system to do a clean reboot/shutdown. If there is anything else you may need from me, please let me know.

A couple of notes: Prior to this latest reboot, I disabled VM and Docker Managers while trying to resolve my other problem with not being able to stop the array. I also installed Dynamix Stop Shell prior to the reboot but that didn't help with stopping the array. I assume the script is not active until after I reboot.

Thank you.

Since the shutdown was unclean there should be diags from that time in the flash drive, /logs folder, post those.

Hi Jorge, thank you very much for your prompt response. Is it the logs folder in the flash drive? I'm attaching the last one prior to the one I posted before.image.thumb.png.714fa9ac3af3717fb363d8a8a443d014.png

Not seeing anything obvious, try updating to v6.12.6 since there were some unclean shutdown fixes, if it happens again post new diags, again from the flash drive after an unclean shutdown.

Thank you again Jorge. I just updated to v6.12.6 and rebooted. It seems it rebooted just fine but I can't really tell. The only thing I noticed is that Parity Check is no longer running and that the last check is incomplete and Error Code says aborted. Should I run Parity Check again?

I'm generated a new diagnostic in case you'd like to see it. If everything seems good, I'll proceed to mark this as resolved.image.thumb.png.bc045d610d895159b19000f945ae6b47.png

The reboot was clean, but it may be good to still run a parity check, since the previous one wasn't.

Wonderful! Glad to hear it! I hope this last. Appreciate all the help Jorge!
