October 7, 201114 yr Starting this in the plugin world since I think it might be easily handled. Event: drive failure Result: Array stop, spin down all drives. Of course this is a selectable behavior. And the provision would need to be disabled during rebuild. Why: 1) hot spare/auto rebuild is not available 2) really gets the attention (no need to beep or flash) 3) Next drive issue is data loss territory. I'm over in roadmap asking for P+Q and hot spare/auto rebuild. I understand these are not trivial. Rebuttal seems to center around these being overkill for this class of data. So for this class of data, shutdown is an option. In fact, it is the next thing to happen. In some cases, the sooner the better (cooling loss). I don't have a running unRAID so I do not know how much access to the platform is available for event handling. I searched forums and only saw two threads, one indicating drive failure was not readily determined. But that was on an older version of unRAID. Is there a v5 dev platform yet?
