Dell Optiplex 7010 Plus SFF

Featured Replies

Is the Dell Optiplex 7010 Plus SFF with the i5-13500 a good choice for a Unraid setup? I want to run 15+ Docker containers and want to use multiple realtime transcodings for plex (4K to 1080p for remote watching).

No, it doesn't have any storage options besides USB that I can see. USB is not recommended for any drives except for the single required USB startup / license stick. All storage devices should be SATA / SAS / NVME directly.

Thats not a very good reply, it has inside the box 3xsata ports, 1x m.2 2080, 2x m.2 2030 - and a PCI-e x16 slot - surely that would suffice, plus with the pci-e slot you can add maybe an LSI SAS Expander card of somesort???

Sorry, apparently I looked at the wrong link. you are correct, it has enough expansion to make it minimally viable.

Although it was someone else that posted - i am also trying this out tbh - have set up the dell part of the pc with 64Gb RAM, got lsi card - and all relevant sas cables - and just doing a test with a few random drives i have lying about -  Will get back to you on the rest...
