Using an HDD in an array only for a specific folder.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have a 3 disk array and an unassigned device.

I am using a "media" share, where I put only my media, and an unassigned disk where there are only my downloads.

I would like to create a single "data" share and create subfolders "media" and "downloads" so I can use Atomic Moves.
But at the same time, I would like my downloads to go in the unassigned device (which I could put in the array), while the movies have to split in the three disks of the "old array"

How can I do this?

Thank you.
Mattia.

Don’t see how you can do that using Unraid standard facilities.    Sounds as if you need to split out the downloads (although they could go to a pool rather than the Unassigned Device).

Hi, thank you for your response.

I would like to not have to use my media reserved disks for downloads.
If in this way I cannot reserve a disk exclusively for downloads folder, how else can I use Atomic moves?

Put the extra disk in a pool;  Creat a Downloads share which has the pool set as primary storage and no secondary storage;   Set the media share to have the pool as primary storage; the array as secondary storage and mover direction to be pool->array.

Thank you very much,

I will do that right away.

Have good day.
