January 11, 20242 yr I am fairly new to Unraid and I'm having some trouble figuring out how to get GPU passthru to work with a Windows 10 VM with an Intel Arc A380. My motherboard is an Asrock z690m-itx/ax with an Intel i5-12400 CPU. My idea was to use my iGPU for transcoding in Plex Container and then to pass through my Intel Arc A380 graphics card to a Windows 10 VM for Hardware Accelerated PlayOn recording and/or light gaming. Within the Asrock BIOS I enabled "Above 4G Decoding" and "C.A.M." in order to enable Resizable BAR. I enabled iGPU multimonitor and set the Primary Graphics Adapter to the Onboard graphics. I don't have legacy boot turned on and instead am using UEFI. In Unraid, I passed through the following and rebooted: IOMMU group 15:[8086:56a5] 0000:03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation DG2 [Arc A380] (rev 05) IOMMU group 16:[8086:4f92] 0000:04:00.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation DG2 Audio Controller In my settings for my Windows 10 VM, I changed the graphics card to the Intel Arc A380 and the sound card to Intel DG2 Audio Controller. After making all the changes above, when I try to start the VM, it shows as starting, but I am never able to VNC into it, nor does it show up on my network. If I try changing the Graphics card back to virtual, I get an error stating "Guest has not initialized the display (yet)". The only way I've figured out how to get my VM working again is to create a new VM and point the vdisk locations back to the original ones. I feel like I'm really close to getting it working, and I've seen other people mention that they were able to get Intel Arc cards passed through into VM's, but no information as to how. I'm at the point where I don't know what I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
January 11, 20242 yr I have the reseat bug when passing trough the Audio device so i dont pass it trough and it works. yes VNC brakes here to but if you use something else like RDP or Sunshine or AnyDesk it Works just fine 😃 just configure any of them or better two at once for Backup reasons.
January 11, 20242 yr Author Thank you for the info. So I've tried with and without the Audio device but I don't seem to making much progress. I've setup Chrome Remote Desktop in my VM so that I can access it after VNC breaks. When I pass thru the Arc GPU, I am able to boot into Windows and access it via Chrome Remote Desktop, but it is using the generic Microsoft Display Drivers. I go to download the Intel Arc drivers, but as soon as I attempt to install them, the screen goes black and the VM becomes unresponsive. I've tried this multiple times with Windows 10 Pro and Windows 11 Pro, but I seem to get the same results. In case it is useful, I am running with the following settings and hardware: 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12400 - 6C/12T (4C/8T allocated to VM) Asrock z690m-itx/ax Motherboard w/ 32GB total RAM (8BG allocated to VM) Asrock A380 Machine Q35-7.2 BIOS OVMF (Tried OVMF TPM as well) Hyper-V Yes virtio-win-0.1.240-1.iso Is there a particular procedure to get this working that I'm overlooking or maybe a BIOS setting that needs to be changed? Would any logs be helpful in figuring this out, and if so which ones? Also, should I maybe use a different method of remote access? I used Chrome Remote Desktop because it is simple and familiar, but if it would make a difference I can certainly give another one a go.
January 12, 20242 yr Author Solution I got it working!!! I removed the .iso files for the OS and the virtio drivers, and then I passed through the GPU & sound card. I also hooked up a monitor to the GPU. I booted the VM and opened it in Chrome Remote Desktop. I installed the Intel Arc drivers and it worked! I saw someone on youtube that was trying to pass thru Nvidia gpus and they removed the .iso files once they were no longer needed, so I figured what the heck, and to my surprise it worked! I'm not sure if it was that or the monitor being hooked up, but either way I'm happy to have it working now. Hopefully this'll help point someone else in the right direction as well. Edited January 12, 20242 yr by Sup3rTr00p Forgot about adding monitor
January 17, 20242 yr Hey, is there any chance you could share some screenshots of your setup? I have the same gpu. It appears in the device manager as correctly installed, but the intel driver setup tells me that the installations failed and I should reinstall the drivers. Subsequently, Fusion 360 and also the Orcaslicer, which I would like to use tell me that they cannot use my GPU. Any hint would be appreciated.
April 30, 20242 yr Anyone else get any further with this? I got a A310 that I'm trying to pass through to win 10 vm which shows but keeps on failing on the driver installation and giving an error 43.

Can you explain what you mean by you removed the iso files. If I remove them and try to boot the os it doesnt work. Just woundering what your actual steps were when you got this working.
March 3, 20251 yr Author TBH, I can't remember any more. I think I only managed to get it working briefly, but then it turned out there was an issue with the card and I had to return it. I gave up on ARC and installed an Nvidia Quadro for a little while. I had that working perfectly for a few months, but a couple weeks ago I completely removed my Windows VM and the GPU because I no longer need them. The only thing I was using it for was recording content via PlayOn Home, but it wasn't very reliable in the VM. I eventually just setup a dedicated Windows 11 mini pc for that task and instead decided to use my only PCIe for an HBA instead. Sorry I can't recall what I did back then.

April 14, 20251 yr I am also going through this code 43 trying to make a gaming VM through an arc a380. Can't flash the vbios. After installing drives and reboot of the VM it just keeps going code 43. The monitors connected to the GPUs stay blank too. Linus and space invader make it look easier than this has been for sure.
