Not all disk are selectable within the array configuration

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a problem with my dual NVME to USB3 chassis. It’s possible to install two NVME disks in the chassis. Then, each disk has it’s own USB connector. I’ve connected both to Unraid but unfortunately only one of them shows up on the START page for configuring the array.

But in the System Devices section I can find both disks:

USB Devices:
Bus 002 Device 005 Port 2-1.4      ID 0bda:9210 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL9210 M.2 NVME Adapter
Bus 002 Device 006 Port 2-6.2      ID 0bda:9210 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL9210 M.2 NVME Adapter

SCSI Devices:
[1:0:0:0]    disk    Realtek  RTL9210 NVME     1.00  /dev/sdb   1.00TB
[2:0:0:0]    disk    Realtek  RTL9210 NVME     1.00  /dev/sdc   1.00TB

Only the sdc disk shows up for the array configuration

Do I miss something? Do I have to change some configuration?

Thanks in advance

It is a requirement of Unraid that each drive has a unique ID (typically serial number).   It looks as if the USB3 chassis you are using does not pass through the serial numbers and has given both drives the same ID.   The only fix to this is a different USB3 chassis that DOES have unique ID's for each drive.

Thank you for your comment. It is exactly as you said.

The miserable implementation of the enclosure sets the serial number for both disks to 012345678904.

That and the UID issue for licensing prevents it from working.

i think I bought the same usb enclosure you did. lol same issues, same numbers. Did you ever find another enclosure that let the drive s/n pass through?
