Help! My btfrs cache drive is " Unmountable: Unsupported or no file system" !

Featured Replies

Howdy!

My cache drive is "Unmountable: Unsupported or no file system" and I think it might need to be repaired in some way... or maybe not. I'm more of a networking guy not really known much for this kinda thing. Did some troubleshooting steps with some help on discord but want some more help if someone could read over my diagnostics and let me know what they think the best plan of action is.

Thanks in advance,

jonachu

Jan 11 20:55:15 Popponesset kernel: BTRFS error (device nvme0n1p1): parent transid verify failed on logical 235285987328 mirror 2 wanted 9836145919581527917 found 1285997

This error is fatal, and looking at the difference wanted/found, I think it could only be caused by some major corruption, you can try the recovery options here, btrfs restore especially.

On the first to command you are missing the first forward slash, it's /dev/nvme0n1p1

If the data was recovered re-format the pool and restore the data.

sorry...I'm kinda a noob at this. Is there a guide you could point me to on how to do this? Also, at this time, do you recommend me switching to xfs for my single cache drive? and if so how would I go about doing that?

Format button is next to array stop button, since it's single device pool you can try xfs instead, but the type of error it was suggests to me that there may be some underlying hardware issue.

Got it. Thanks. And to restore the data on the drive I just move everthing back onto it from my disk?
