Unraid Can't detect Harddrives through Adaptec ASR 71605

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm new to the NAS world,

I brought a

HBA: Adaptec ASR 71605 16 Ports SAS HBA Mode Raid Card 1GB Cache w/ SAS 3 to 4x SATA
Motherboard: Asus B85M-G R2.0 Motherboard w/ Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz 8GB 1600Mhz Ram

I'm able to see it when it' boots up into BIOS for the HBA, but when I boot unraid in GUI mode it can't detect it at all

I reached out to the seller for HBA and they said they shipped it in IT mode, but still very confused

Going into BIOS mode --> Adaptec RAID Configuration Utility -->  Disk Utility

Also wanted to add that my server can detect the harddrives if i connect it directly from Harddrive to motherboard

The controller is being detected and initialized correctly, as far as I can see, so possibly and since that's a RAID controller, you may need to passthrough the disks, or create a raid0/jbod for each disk, I have no experience with those controllers but if you search the forum you may find more info.

Thank you both!! @JorgeB and @ChatNoir with the help that the HBA was initializing properly, and that i might have to format my disk,

I went through and did a disk check from my HBA and found out about Create array..... which was the missing link. But thank you so much for your help I wouldn't have figured this out with you both!!!

Very much appreciated!!
