traps lsof errors while fileintegrity plugin is running?

I noticed the following errors pop up in syslog when my weekly file integrity scan is running:

Does this indicate there is an issue with my SAS controller, SAS expander or a maybe a bad cable?

I tried looking for similar errors on the forums but all I found was a couple of posts where one solution was to reimage the USB drive which doesn't feel like the right answer for this.

Is there further troubleshooting I can do to isolate the issue?
