January 28, 20242 yr Brand new to UnRaid, this is my first install ever. After doing some research, noticed some some folks using this card and it seemed to meet my needs, so that's what I picked up: https://www.startech.com/en-us/cards-adapters/8p6g-pcie-sata-card However, I'm having some trouble getting UnRaid to recognize the card and drives attached to it. I'm using an Asus TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4 motherboard, I flashed the most recent BIOS after building things out and I've tried reseating the card in all 3 PCIE slots on the board (top slot, PCIEX16, middle slot PCIEX4(G4), bottom slot PCIEX16(G4)) but each time when I boot up UnRaid the only drive that shows up under unassigned is my 2TB NVME. I have 6x drives attached to the card, none of them are available. Any feedback/advice welcome. Cheers,

January 31, 20242 yr Not sure if that card will work. It has an Asmedia ASM1061 which is good for two ports and is using a port multiplier. I don't think port multipliers work with Asmedia controllers in unraid. Here is the recommended list of controllers.
January 31, 20242 yr Author Hi there, looking for some help for someone who is new to UnRaid on a new server build. I assembled it over the weekend and boot up UnRaid for the first time. Unfortunately my 6x 18TB HDD's are not recognized yet so I am unable to build my array, set parity disks etc.. Here's the full parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XK2sPF I'm using this StarTech 8-port SATA card for my drives: https://www.startech.com/en-us/cards-adapters/8p6g-pcie-sata-card In my research I found a few posts from other users who had success with this, so am hoping this isn't the issue. Here's what I see in my Dashboard: https://ibb.co/6NPyVwJ None of the drives show up. There are 3x PCIE slots in my Motherboard. I've tried moving the card to all 3 and I get the same result each time. Advice is welcome. Thanks for reading.
January 31, 20242 yr Community Expert You are likely to get better informed feedback if you attach your system’s diagnostics zip file to your next post in this thread. it is always a good idea when asking questions to supply your diagnostics so we can see details of your system, how you have things configured, and the current syslog.

First post on Sunday when I tried to register, a second one today when I figured the original post went into a black hole somewhere as I continued to get told I was awaiting verification. It seems the forum held that first attempt and then posted it 3 days later along with my second one. Pretty odd process... maybe it's just me, but that was a bit confusing. Attached is the diagnostics. Appreciate the feedback. diagnostics-20240131-2057.zip Edited February 1, 20242 yr by OneEye

They weren't powering on at all. issue was the power disable on the drives. I tried the adapter included with the drives (ServerPartDeals), all 6 drives now show up in my Dashboard. Thank you JorgeB, appreciate the reply! Cheers folks, on to continue setup - hope you all have a wonderful day! 😀

I acknowledge the recommendation, and overnight I was thinking about my card not exactly being a good choice. I may replace it if it doesn't work out over the next few weeks. Thanks for sharing this.
