Unclean shutdown, Drive now emulated. BIOS battery replaced

Featured Replies

As I live in Kherson Ukraine...

Lost power last night for the 100x in the last 1.5 years. When the server came back up one of the drives was kicked out of the array and is being emulated.

Before I turned it back on I replaced the CMOS battery as it was something I had noticed the last time I lost power.

Anyway, before I order a drive out of Kyiv that I really cannot afford is the drive truly gone or did I screw something up?

(In maint mode I did a smart test and the drive passes. FYI: Not a Linux guy)

All the red ‘x’ means is that a write to the drive failed.   The vast majority of the time this is caused by an external factor (E,g. Cabling, power) and there is nothing wrong with the drive.   Best thing to do is run an Extended SMART test on the drive and if it passes that then the drive is almost certainly OK.

Didn't really notice anything in syslog that might have caused it, so it probably happened before the most recent reboot.

SMART for all array disks looks OK, but as mentioned extended test might tell more. You can acknowledge that 1 reallocated on parity if you haven't already by clicking on the warning on the Dashboard page, and it will warn again if it increases.

Emulated disk2 is mounted so rebuild should be fine assuming no user errors.

As the drive is disabled how do i get it back in the array?
