Hello, What solved it for me up to now was: 1) No "hidden" shares (i.e. all shares are purely set to "Export = Yes", with user access restrictions - as a result everybody on the network can see every share but most users can only read and/or write a few shares that are relevant to them). 2) Manually added network connections for the relevant shares, based on the LAN IP address. I think it sucks that this was such a pain in the ass to troubleshoot and that some settings (like "Yes (hidden)" export settings) seem to be de facto unuseable, at least to me, but it is what it is I guess. Hope it helps!
September 9, 20241 yr One thing to try is to setup the Share on your Unraid server that you want to be hidden in the normal unhiddened mode. Then map the this Share as a Mapped Drive on the Windows machine. (Also be sure that you have a credential to the Unraid server set up on the client using the Credential Manager. I personally would set up the Mapped Drive to log-on at startup!) Make sure every thing works. Then set the share to Yes (hidden) and test. There have also been a couple of additions to the first post my original Thread about setting up SMB. For your convenience, I will post up the Link: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/110580-security-is-not-a-dirty-word-unraid-windows-1011-smb-setup/ The one about the alternative to Network Neighborhood will be of particular interest to those folks who have only one or two servers.
