October 23, 201114 yr Just started to experience the server NOT shutting down fully - that is, it doesn't power off after shutting the array down. A couple of days ago this happened when shutting down from the WebGUI. The array shut down correctly, but the server didn't power off. I had to use the power button. The log shows the array shut down correctly. I started to use the ctrl-alt-delete buttons to shut down, and this worked for a couple of days, but now it is also doing the same thing. Again, there is nothing in the log. I did capture this from the screen. Seems to be some sort of apcupsd issue. I've only done two things recently 1 - Upgraded a HDD to a bigger one. 2 - Installed "SmartHistory" - which also meant installing PHP. One thing I have noticed is that the "Clean Power Down" package shown via unMenu seems to be installed twice?? Not sure how this can happen?? Edit (I"ve just noticed that "powerdown_ctlaltdel-unmenu-package.conf" is in the package folder twice, but the other one is "powerdown_ctrlaltdel-unmenu-package.conf" - this one has an "r" in ctrl, whereas the other one doesn't. Is this my problem? The first one is the newer file. Here is my "GO" script (should you require it) Should there be a "Sleep" in here? #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & echo nameserver ***.***.*.* >/etc/resolv.conf echo ***.***.***.* tower >>/etc/hosts /boot/cache_dirs -d 5 -m 3 -M 5 -w CTRLALTDEL=YES LOGSAVE=30 installpkg /boot/packages/powerdown-1.02-noarch-unRAID.tgz sysctl -w kernel.poweroff_cmd="/sbin/powerdown" cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c Thx.
October 24, 201114 yr Author Been investigating this some more. The two .conf files were definitely the reason I was getting two "Powerdown" segments in the Pkg Manager of unMenu. I have removed one. It would also seem that at some point I manually installed "Powerdown", which I'm currently in the process of removing. However, I wonder if someone could tell me if this portion of the "Go" script is part of the powerdown script or for something else?? Thx cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c

It invokes all the scripts in /boot/packages that end in .auto_install Joe L.

So if I understand that correctly, I only have to remove these two lines to remove the manual install of powerdown. CTRLALTDEL=YES LOGSAVE=30 installpkg /boot/packages/powerdown-1.02-noarch-unRAID.tgz sysctl -w kernel.poweroff_cmd="/sbin/powerdown" Des the order of things in the Go script have any bearing? For example, I'd like to add the unmenu call to the go script, but does it have to go at any particular place? Does it need a sleep process? /boot/unmenu/uu EDIT: Got in sorted I think. Thx
October 24, 201114 yr It can go anywhere in the go script. Mine is after emhttp and before cd /boot/packages. No sleep.
October 26, 201114 yr Author Seems I was mistaken about getting this issue sorted. When I used the cltr-Alt-delete buttons last night my server again didn't shutdown completely. The array seems to do a clean shutdown, but the server doesn't power off. It always surprises me that things can work properly for ages then for some reason they decide its time to play up. I have been researching this issue and found this post http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3020.msg104075#msg104075. Can anyone tell me if this could be my issue? And...if it is...what needs to be done to fix it? I've included the log here. Thx syslog-20111025-223637.zip
