I can't rember how to populate shares

Featured Replies

Hello, i seem to forgot how to populate a share to the disk location. I checked a lot of youtube videos but no one in there adds the data.

Global settings

enable disk shares    yes

enable user shares   yes

included disks          all

exluded  disk           none

Permit exclusive shares no

tuneable                Yes

tuneable   direct io  auto

When i try to set it in the shares tab the drop downs on read write only shows the other shares.

When i did this before it was covered on space invaders how to set up unraid series but i cant seem to find them.

Any help appreciated.

i am not stepladder. Google login is wonky

Having a hard time imagining what you are trying to do.

Maybe a screenshot would clarify.

I recommend not sharing disks on the network.

if i share disk over network it will be temporary.

What i want to do is put the files that are not in other shares. Like the first time you make a share

and yes i had to remind my self how to do srceenshots.

Please close irrelevant windows when you get screenshots. Even better if you figure out how to get a screenshot that only includes the important part of the screen instead of everything on your monitor.

Still don't understand what you are trying to do.

I recommend not naming a share "Array".

What do you mean by

Do some of your disks have files that are at the top level and not in folders?

Why do you think they exist? Do you have an example?

Have you exported the share with SMB or NFS?

I will probably just go away if you don't.

I created other shares a few months ago and i didn't change any settings, before this issue

I just realized  the my SMB settings don't show.

Export     Yes

This utility is used for troubleshooting purposes. It will collect all of the system information and configuration files, and package these files in a single ZIP file which can be saved locally. Subsequently, this file can be included in your correspondence with Limetech or the Unraid forum.

This will help others to quickly get the inside information of your system and provide better support to your problem. The following information and configuration files are collected:

+ /config
copy all *.cfg files, go file and the super.dat file. These are configuration files. + /config/shares
copy all *.cfg files. These are user share settings files. + Syslog file(s)
copy the current syslog file and any previous existing syslog files. + System
save output of the following commands:
lsscsi, lspci, lsusb, free, lsof, ps, ethtool & ifconfig.
display of iommu groups.
display of command line parameters (e.g. pcie acs override, pci stubbing, etc).
save system variables. + SMART reports
save a SMART report of each individual disk present in your system. + Docker
save files docker.log, libvirtd.log, libvirt/qemu/*.log and vfio-pci.

Clicking Download will start the collection process and then instruct your browser to save the zip file locally.

No personal information such as user names, passwords, or any other file contents not specified above is included by Unraid OS; however, your server name, IP address, and user share names will be included.

Note that 3rd-party plugins may or may not store personal information in plugin-specific configuration files and/or output to the system log.

Your appdata, domains, and system shares are on the array, but we can deal with that later.

What user share are you trying access?

  • Author

ok say i want my TV shares to access the TV folder on the the disk(s)

I should be able to find the folder and and have the files available.

I thought it was the read write buttons. The read section, only has the arrow box which only shows my existing shares

The read and write buttons are greyed out even on the shares i have

According to your Diagnostics, you don't have a User Share named TV.

User shares are simply the combined top level folders on array and pools.

If you create a user share, Unraid creates a top level folder named for the share, on array and pools as needed in accordance with the settings you make for that share.

Conversely, if you have a top level folder on array or pools, it is automatically part of a user share named for the folder. All other top level folders on other disks or pools with that same name are part of that same user share.

Any user share you haven't made settings for have defaults.

Move the flac folder to the root of the disk and it will automatically become a share, then you can go to the shares page in the GUI and export it with SMB.

I looked at your Diagnostics file and I suspect that the 'Flac' files are inside of the -M----a' share.  Open up the 'M----a' share in Windows (File) Explorer and find the 'Flac' folder.

Are you familiar with the concept of of Mapped Drives on your Windows computer?  If not, look at this Microsoft website:

      https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/map-a-network-drive-in-windows-29ce55d1-34e3-a7e2-4801-131475f9557d

You now know the path down to the 'Flac' folder, so just browse down to it and set it up.

Note that if you want to "Reconnect at sign-in", it would be best if you setup a Windows Credential in Credential Manager unless the 'M----a' Share is 'Public'.

Install Dynamix File Manager, it will let you work with folders and files directly on the server.
